Check Out This Student Hunger Awareness Video

Posted by Kristen

It was made by my students at The American University of Rome. They are top 5 finalists in the UN’s Hungerbytes Video Competition. The authors of the video that receives the most views by October 16, 2008 (World Hunger Day) will be sent to a developing country to film a World Food Programme Feeding Center. Pass it on! :-) Thanks.

This year because of the sharp price increases for food I provided each of my sponsored children’s families one months worth of food. I now have 14 sponsored children so it took about 6 months to help each family. Now that this project is completed, I will help Aura’s House more, the World Food Program, Children International’s food fund and start buying beds for my sponsored children who must now sleep on a mat on the floor. This video illustrates well what many people around the world experience every day.

    Thanks Evergreen,

I am still amazed by the sheer number of families you’ve been able to help. I hope to be able to begin to sponsor more CI children in the future as well.

The World Food Crisis has been a big worry. 100 million more families slipped into poverty in the last year alone because of it. Now with a global financial crisis, it’ll be harder for richer countries to donate. I hope WFP, Children International, and even little Aura’s House along with all the other non profit organizations will be able to continue the good work they are doing.

I’m glad the Aura’s House blog is back with a such important post. Currently with food prices sky rocketing a lot of families don’t have enough food.

This is a great video! Keep up the good work!

The results are in for the Hungerbytes Contest. The students came in second with over 120,000 views. Thanks to everyone who watched. Feel free to keep passing it on.

    Best,
    Kristen
