Over the years, I’ve gotten lots of personal emails in response to the Aura’s House site. Many are notes of support and encouragement. Some congratulate the site on its progress. Some are from people asking for money or help (unfortunately usually beyond our means to provide it). Others are SPAM and some are from people who want to help who then follow up or leave us hanging.

Here is a lovely email I got today. I hope Diana doesn’t mind me posting it here. Emails like these are one of the little gifts I get for running the site. Incidentally, there are tips for fundraising at this page on our site.

I came across Auras house as I was searching google on how to raise money to help families in Guatemala, and voila I also came across your email. I also enjoy traveling, languages and learning about all the beautiful different cultures and people that exists.

As I clicked on the website a knott formed in my throat as
I remembered my grandmother Aura.
She created a place one cannot easily find now. Her warmth, brightness and her hands always open created a special place.
In a similar way you have created a house for Aura and many.

I am currently in the beginning of the road towards becoming an architect with a green conscious. I hope to make it to Italy and also study abroad other countries. I am currently taking Italian 1 and initiated the Italian club at my college.

I was born in the city of Guatemala but grew up in New Jersey, CA and just recently moved again from New York city. I have just recently tapped into my own country and am considered a foreigner there. I am trying to catch up and all that I missed there and trying to visit all the eco hot spots there.

Its rare that one comes across similar minds.
